Richard “Rick” Roth, MD is Now One of the Only US Based Physicians Credentialed as an EASA Aviation Medical Examiner

Savannah, Ga. — Richard “Rick” Roth, MD has been officially credentialed as a European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) Aviation Medical Examiner (AME), making him one of the only physicians in the United States authorized to perform EASA aeromedical certifications. The certification journey took Dr. Roth over two years to complete and included direct mentorship from Dr. Thomas Drekonja of Salzburg, Austria at Austro Control. 

Based at Savannah/Hilton Head International Airport, Dr. Roth is now offering EASA Class 1 medical examinations—including renewals and revalidations—providing convenient access for U.S.-based pilots and international aviators who require EASA medical certification.  

Dr. Roth brings more than 20 years of experience as a Senior FAA Aviation Medical Examiner and is widely recognized for delivering efficient, high‑quality aeromedical care to flight crews. In addition to his clinical practice, he serves as the flight surgeon for Gulfstream Aerospace Corporation’s flight operations, overseeing aeromedical needs for one of the world’s leading business aviation manufacturers.
