FAA MEDICAL EXAMINATION SERVICES

First Class FAA Medical Certification

FAA Medical Examination

1st Class eligibility standards are broad, but also include:

  • Distant Vision: 20/20 in each eye separately, with or without correction
  • Near Vision: 20/40 or better in each eye separately with or without correction
  • Color Vision: Ability to perceive those colors necessary for safe performance of airman duties
  • Hearing: Demonstrate hearing of an average conversational voice in a quiet room, using both ears at 6 feet, with the back turned to the examiner or passing one of the audiometric tests options.
  • Audiology: Audiometric speech discrimination test: Score at least 70% reception in one ear. And pass the Pure tone audiometric test.

Second Class FAA Medical Certification

FAA Medical Examination

2nd Class eligibility criteria are less constrained but will also include:

  • Distant Vision: 20/20 in each eye separately, with or without correction
  • Near Vision: 20/40 or better in each eye separately with or without correction
  • Color Vision: Ability to perceive those colors necessary for safe performance of airman duties
  • Hearing: Demonstrate hearing of an average conversational voice in a quiet room, using both ears at 6 feet, with the back turned to the examiner or passing one of the audiometric tests options.
  • Audiology: Audiometric speech discrimination test: Score at least 70% reception in one ear. And pass the Pure tone audiometric test.

Third Class FAA Medical Certification

FAA Medical Examination

3rd Class medical certification standards include:

  • Distant Vision: 20/40 or better in each eye separately, with or without correction
  • Near Vision: 20/40 or better in each eye separately (Snellen equivalent), with or without correction, as measured at 16 inches.
  • Color Vision: Ability to perceive those colors necessary for safe performance of airman duties.
  • Hearing: Demonstrate hearing of an average conversational voice in a quiet room, using both ears at 6 feet, with the back turned to the examiner or pass one of the audiometric tests below.
  • Audiology: Audiometric speech discrimination test: Score at least 70% reception in one ear. And pass the Pure tone audiometric test.

Basic Medical Evaluations

Are handled on a one-on-one basis with a detailed review of the airman’s primary care medical records.

Basic need evaluations do not fall under OKC regulations.

All clients need to fill out the FAA MEDEXPRESS form.

The FAA MedXPress system allows anyone to electronically complete an FAA Medical Clearance or Medical Certificate application prior to their appointment. The information that is entered into MedXPress will be available to your FAA AME to review at the time of your medical examination.
